To upgrade Remote Console Switch firmware using the local GUI:

  1. Enter the user name and password if prompted
  2. From the side navigation bar, select the Unit View - RCS – Tools.  The Unit Maintenance window appears.
  3. Click the Upgrade sub-tab to open the Upgrade RCS Firmware window.
  4. Select one of the following methods from which to load the firmware file: USB Mass Storage, TFTP, FTP, or HTTP. NOTE: The Filesystem option is only available on the remote OBWI.
  5. If you selected USB Mass Storage, enter the filename of the firmware upgrade file.
    -or-
    If you selected TFTP, enter the Server IP Address and Firmware File you wish to load.
    -or-
    If you selected FTP or HTTP, enter the Server IP Address and Firmware File you wish to load, as well as the User Name and User Password.
  6. Click Upgrade.

 

To upgrade Remote Console Switch firmware using the On Board Web Interface:

  1. Open a web browser and input the IP address for the KVM switch
  2. Enter the user name and password if prompted
  3. From the side navigation bar, select the Unit View - RCS – Tools.  The Unit Maintenance window appears.
  4. Click the Upgrade sub-tab to open the Upgrade RCS Firmware window.
  5. Select one of the following methods from which to load the firmware file: Filesystem, TFTP, FTP, or HTTP. NOTE: The Filesystem option is only available on the remote OBWI.
  6. If you selected Filesystem, select Browse to specify the location of the firmware upgrade file.
    -or-
    If you selected TFTP, enter the Server IP Address and Firmware File you wish to load.
    -or-
    If you selected FTP or HTTP, enter the Server IP Address and Firmware File you wish to load, as well as the User Name and User Password.
  7. Click Upgrade.

 

To fix the issue where the USB2+CAC SIPs are not seen behind the Passive Expansion Module (PEM) please perform the following:

    1. Upgrade the KVM appliance FW to version 1.6.5.17633
    2. After the FW upgrade, make sure SIP Auto-Upgrade feature is turned on by:
      1. Use the left navigation pane to the Ports section
      2. Verify that you are on the SIPs tab
      3. Insure that the SIP Auto-Upgrade feature is enabled
    3. Plug your USB+CAC SIPs directly into the KVM appliance (not into the PEM)
    4. The USB+CAC SIPs should auto upgrade from version 1.0.1.7 to 1.0.1.11
    5. Certify the version by using the left navigation pane to enter the Ports section.  With the SIPs tab in view you should be able to see the FW version of the SIPs.
